The Angmering Village Flower and Produce Show was once again held under blue skies and warm temperatures in the beautiful gardens and barn of Pigeon House by kind permission of Peter and Martina Blake.
The entries to the shows’ Flower and Vegetable classes were good, considering the sporadic weather leading up to the show. Some beautiful roses and the perfume from the sweet peas drifted around the barn and visitors commented on the wonderful smell as they walked in.
The entries to the Floral Art classes were extremely high. The standards were very good and our judge was very impressed by them all.
Entries to the various Cookery classes were again high and our judge had to taste them all, including at least ten carrot cakes! She said it was pleasing to see the amount of people taking part.
The Arts and Crafts categories had many entries and the beaded bracelets were hotly contended, by both adults and children, so they were judged separately. The Children’s classes had entries this year from Brownies and Guides and they gave the other entries a good challenge. Outside, the Stall Holders were kept busy as we had nearly 400 visitors over the two hours, enjoying the show, gardens, teas and of course, cream scones.
At the end of the afternoon, the cup presentation and raffle took place and there were several surprised winners. The Show ended with rounds of applause for the hosts, volunteers and the many visitors. A selection of photographs from the day can be seen below.
